An iconic Sri Lankan Dutch Burgher culinary parcel consisting of stock-simmered yellow rice, mixed-meat curry, frikkadels (Dutch-style meatballs), blachan (shrimp paste), ash plantain, and brinjal pickle, wrapped in a banana leaf and baked.
Origin
Introduced by the Dutch Burgher community during the Dutch colonial era, derived from the Dutch word lomprijst (meaning a packet or bundle of rice) and shaped by Javanese banana-leaf rice parcels (lemper).
